Warsaw 2024 – Day 4

The last day has begun. The polish students picked us up once again and our journey started with a visit to Museum of the History of Polish Jews, POLIN.

Equipped with audio guides, each one of us started their own journey into 1000 years of Jewish history in Poland. Covering from the earliest settlements to the turbulent events of the 20th century, every exhibit stood as a moving tribute to the resilience and strength of the Polish Jewish community.

The museum was highly intriguing and diverse, featuring projections, films, and exhibitions. What we particularly enjoyed were the various rooms and scenarios, as they transported us back in time with an overwhelming feeling. The images below showcase a few examples of these immersive spaces.

Next on our itinerary was a trip to the top of the iconic Palace of Culture and Science. As we ascended to the observation deck, we were met with breathtaking panoramic views of Warsaw stretching out before us. The skyscrapers around standing tall as symbols of economic growth and urban development, they also serve as a testament to the city’s bright future and its ability to rise from the ashes of its past.

Eager to immerse ourselves in the modern culture of Warsaw, we made our way to Westfield Arkadia, a bustling shopping mall. Through all the shops and boutiques, we stumbled upon the „E L & N“ Cafe, a whimsical oasis of pink and creativity. Sipping on our colorful drinks, we couldn’t help but feel like we had stepped into a real-life Barbie dream world. Every table had a small device where we could order everything we wanted from the menu and also pay right away, which was very cool and modern.

Feeling adventurous, some of us decided to attempt a visit to the rooftop garden of the University of Warsaw Library. However, much to our disappointment, they discovered that it was closed for the day, leaving them to admire its beauty from afar.

It was finally the time to reach our last destination – a farewell meeting at the „Life is Beautiful“ Club, a cozy bar and cafe placed in the heart of the city. Here, we were treated to a feast of traditional Polish cuisine, which was very delicious.

But the true highlight of the evening was the sense of camaraderie that filled the air as we gathered around to play communal games. Laughter and friendly competition filled the room as we bonded over board games and card games, forging memories. It felt like we had known each other for a lifetime. They welcomed us warmly and offered help whenever we needed it. We all formed strong bonds without feeling pressured, judged, or left out.

As the night went on, we sadly said goodbye to our new friends and the wonderful city of Warsaw. Even though our visit was short, the memories we created will last a lifetime, reminding us of the charm and kindness of this historic city and its people.
